About
“Pride in craftsmanship”
At Zieg Studios our mission is simple, to provide our clients with the highest quality metalwork possible. We mix traditional craftsmanship with modern sensibility to create truly unique items.
Whether the item is antique or new, traditional or modern, we communicate, design, build/restore, and install in the most mindful way possible.
What we do
At Zieg Studios we handle all kinds of custom metalwork, from forging small nails, detailed items, and specialty tools, to the repair and restoration of antiques, large fences and gates as well as the creation of new railings and gates. We are able to make exact copies of original antiques, as well as produce metalwork from the most modern of designs. We can work from original items, pictures, client drawings, or we can produce designs in house. We work with most metals, including wrought iron, steel, stainless steel, copper, and bronze.
Most importantly, we work hand in hand with our clients. Some of our clients know exactly what they want, some don’t… we understand that, and work with people all the time who have different visions, budgets, and scales of projects… contact us to see what we can do for you!
Our Founder
Zieg Studios was founded by Eric Zieg.
Eric began an apprenticeship in a blacksmith shop near Charlottesville, VA at the age of 15, quickly falling in love with the work and the materials. After graduating high school, Eric began to work as a journeyman, traveling around Virginia and the United States working for and with as many blacksmiths as possible. Eventually, Eric started his own blacksmith shop, which he operated happily until he received a call from George washington’s Mount Vernon….. to be continued
